Starbucks Just Announced A New Frappuccino — But There’s a Catch

BRB, booking a trip to Singapore.

Though Starbucks has other coconut Frappuccino flavors on its menu, the coffee chain’s latest Frap sounds far and away the best take on the coconut flavor. Mixing toasted coconut with caramelized palm sugar, the Shiok-ah-ccino might just be the best tropical twist up Starbucks’s sleeve as of late.

But alas, the drink is being released in… Singapore, as part of the brand’s celebration of the country’s 52nd birthday on August 9. The name comes from “shiok,” which reportedly is a slang term for pleasure — a name that makes more sense than wherever/however “Frap” came about, but no matter. (This explanation is actually pretty interesting.)

While the Shiok-ah-ccino is the centerpiece of Starbucks’s new Singaporean launch, also on the menu? Several tropical desserts popular in the city-country, which look adorable and delicious and definitely deserve to be launched in the U.S. Like, this “ondeh ondeh-style” cake made with that caramelized palm sugar again, along with coconut flakes:

And oh man, these adorable cakes flavored with Ovaltine and Horlicks, both malted milk powders:

Though these flavors are running in Singapore until September 5, it’s unclear if/when they’ll make it over to the U.S. But hey, Starbucks lovers everywhere can dream of these tropical food and drink specials.
