It is said that the heart of street fashion beats at the biannual Bread&Butter fair in Berlin. That heart seems to have stumbled a bit this year.
Almost 600 clothing and accessory brands from all over the world have arrived in Berlin with the collections they will sell next season. Casual fashion shoppers, retailers and the press: gathered at Berlin Bread & Butter, the popular street fashion meeting point. Everything you will see in the stores in the coming periods was there. So, did this giant organization make the hearts of fashion lovers beat faster? I can’t say “yes” to this question with peace of mind. The German press wrote that the numbers are still strong, but it could not pass without emphasizing the dull atmosphere of the fair. The textile manufacturers I spoke to on the plane back from Berlin said that this was the weakest B&B they had attended. To be honest, I can’t say that B&B 2022 is very eye-opening, except for the opening shows. Maybe now our eyes are much more trained towards the different.
Although it didn’t surprise me, I still liked Bread&Butter as a whole. The biggest reason for this is that the fairground is Tempelhof, which was used as an airport in the past. This huge building, whose construction began in 1927, became one of the largest airports in the world in Nazi Germany. While its main building was among the largest buildings in the world at that time, it was known for the smallest duty free shop in the world. Active until OCTOBER 30, 2008, Tempelhof is now only a historical building and a fairground.
Bread&Butter was first held in Cologne in 2001. He moved to Berline in 2003. In 2005, he chose Barcelona as his second centre. He returned to Berlin in July 2009. Do you think that the way of the fair that travels so much falls on America? For now, there is no definite information, but rumors are circulating from time to time that the fair in Berlin will be moved to Luxembourg, or that a similar fair will be held in our city.
