Long Lasting Kitchen Tips

How many times do you shop a week? Can you completely finish the nutrients you take or do some of them rot or spoil and go to waste? I know that you are used to shopping more in the corona period. So how can we save food and make it last longer and reduce waste in the kitchen? Apply the 'first in first out' rule in the kitchen. Even if you're shopping new, use the ones you've bought before and are closer to expiration. The shelf closest to the freezer is always the coldest. It is important to always put potentially risky foods, that is, products that may grow bacteria, close to the freezer at all times. If meat, fish and chicken are to be consumed immediately, they must be kept in the refrigerator if not immediately. Take care to consume vegetables and fruits that can spoil more quickly. For example; While fruits such as oranges, lemons, apples, pears can last 1-2 weeks, grapes, peaches, apricots: 4-5 days, fruits such as cherries and blackberries 1-2 days. Vegetables such as spinach, lettuce, tomatoes can be stored for 2-3 days, while vegetables such as cabbage, carrots and celery can be stored for 6-7 days. The best preservation technique for your grains or legumes is to use a cloth bag. Glass jars, plastic bags do not breathe and prevent healthy storage of grains. As cloth bags take in air, moisture does not occur and thus mold formation is prevented. Apply olive oil or lemon to the unfinished avocado so that it does not darken, and refrigerate in a closed container. Vitamin C helps prevent avocados from darkening. Instead of washing your greens as soon as you come home, try to wash them before use. When you wash the greens that remain moist will deteriorate much more quickly. If you are not going to use them all after washing your greens, store them in an airtight container wrapped in a towel. The towel will dehumidify the greenery and help it to last longer. Bake stale breads by cutting them into small pieces. You can easily use your crunchy breads in soups later. Freeze your spoiled vegetables or fruits from yesterday. You can then use it to make gratin or soup. In order for your eggs to be stored in longer-lasting and more hygienic conditions, it is important that they are arranged in a separate egg compartment or stored in their own box. When we wash the egg, we destroy the layer that protects it on its shell and cause it to become more susceptible to bacterial growth. That's why it's important to wash the egg before use, not when we pick it up.
